The School of Mechanical Engineering had organized Two days Workshop on “Automotive Sketching and Clay Modelling” in association with Institute of Industrial Design, Bangalore on 14th February 2020 and 17th February between 9:00 AM to 04:15 PM in the school, Sir M V Block.
'Institute of Industrial Design (IID) from the house of CADD Centre, is one of the leading engineering design training institutes in India. The institute carries forward the 30-year-old legacy of empowering the youth by providing them with a quality education..'
Sketches by automotive designers are often of great artistic value. Skilful lines and colours express the philosophy and embody characteristics such as “sporty” and “dynamic”. But every project be-gins with an idea that the designer must trace out on paper. The initial sketches are driven by an overarching concept pre-determined by the all companies.
The next stages of the sketch is modelling process are built in varying sizes. In the early design phase, several models to a scale of 1:2.5 are made, followed by true-to-size (1:1). Clays are availa-ble in varying shades of brown, depending on the manufacturer, as well as silver. But the latter is rarely used, since brown heightens contrast between different shapes.
Around 50 students from the School of Mechanical Engineering attended the Two days Workshop.
Day 1: Mr.Ashok kumar resource person from Industrial Institute Design has given a talk on the free hand sketch with geometrical aspects and students were prepared Free hand design sketches of Automobile cars.
Day 2: Mr.Ashok Kumar and team of 6 memebers given traning on the caly model making and guided them to covert their sketches in to clay models of car.
