Students Alumni Career Connect Programme

The new School of Computing and Information Technology organized STUDENTS- ALUMNI CAREER CONNECT (SAC2) online programme on 4th Dec 2020 for Building strong network between students and our proud alumni working in industries, so that students get career support and advice from alumni. The programme was inaugurated by Honorable Chancellor, Dr. P. Shyama Raju sir and other dignitaries of the university; Dr. K.
M. Babu (Vice Chancellor), Dr. Dhanamjaya (Pro-VC) and Dr. Beena (Registrar) graced the occasion. Prof Lalitha gave brief introduction to the programme and requested Prof. Sarvamangala to welcome all to the function after the invocation song by Prof. Pavitra.

Prof. Sarvamangala welcomed Honorable Chancellor sir, VC, Pro-VC, Registrar, Proud alumni, students and esteemed colleagues for the programme and asked Dr. Mallikarjun Kodabagi, Asst. Director, school of Computing and IT to brief about the programme. Dr Mallikarjun M Kodabagi told that, the aim of the programme is to connect students and alumni through online platforms and enable alumni mentors to provide career support to students through regular guidance. To start with, a group of 10 students of 3rd semester B.Tech. CSIT are mapped to each alumni mentor. Currently all B.Tech. CSIT 3rd semester 120 students are mapped to 16 alumni mentors. So that, each alumni mentor can interact with his/her student mentees and guide them on upgradation of required skills as per the industry requirement. He mentioned that, through this programme mentors will also extend the support of internship and live projects to students. He also mentioned that Harvard University provides a similar platform to their students. Also, a software could be developed to maintain the profile for Alumni and connected students, where students can post questions and get answers and receive advices from the Alumni mentors. He also mentioned that, For interaction between students and alumni, MsTeams links are created for all groups and will be shared with mapping details after the formal inauguration function. The functioning details will also be discussed after function.

Further, Prof. Ravi Shankar H, Assistant Professor, School of Computing and Information Technology introduced the alumni who would be part of the STUDENTS-ALUMNI CAREER CONNECT programme.

Students Ms. Meena Chidambaram and Ms. Ishitha Agarwal (3rd sem B.Tech. CSIT) shared their opinion about the great initiative taken to connect the students and alumni. They also expressed their happiness and proposed thanks to Honorable Chancellor sir and School for great initiative during pandemic.

Mr. Himanshu Sharma, Founder and Managing Director, Quant Masters Training Service, said that SAC2 is a great initiative that would provide a bridge between knowledge of students and the experience of alumni. He added that he is privileged to guide the students in the right direction.

Honorable Chancellor, Dr. P Shyama Raju sir formally Inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering. He conveyed his happiness about his dream being put into action. Chancellor sir told that, learning through alumni is a great opportunity for the upcoming students to be industry ready. Chancellor sir also expressed that, such platforms would help students to get proper guidance from alumni and shape their career and to be practiced by all schools of the University. Chancellor sir advised all students to get proper use of such programmes and build their career.

Dr K M. Babu, Vice Chancellor of REVA University addressed the gathering and told that this is a wonderful initiative taken by the school, by this programme, the students would imbibe professional skills from the alumni and work in live projects.

Dr. M Dhanamjaya, Pro Vice Chancellor, REVA University congratulated the School for talking up such a great initiative and the alumni mentors would stand beside the students to help them better their skills and improve the commitment and motivation level of students which in turn will help them to be placed in good companies.

Dr. Beena G, Registrar, REVA University, said that, it would be collaborative effort of both the parties, where the alumni would get an opportunity to work with their alma mater and the students would get a great insight from their seniors.

Dr. Sunil Kumar S. Manvi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Director, School of Computing and Information Technology told that alumni are a great stakeholder for a University in terms of the experience. They would help the students by providing them the required exposure for being able to start contributing to the industry from the day of their joining. And thanked the alumni for associating in this great initiative.

Dr. Vishwanath R H, Professor, School of Computing and Information Technology, thanked Chancellor sir and all dignitaries behind the start of the initiative and the alumni students for agreeing to be a part of the initiative to provide students a strong career support.
