Technical Talk on ASTROBIOLOGY PUTTING LIFE IN SPACE

SCHOOL OF MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES organised Technical Talk On “ASTROBIOLOGY: PUTTING LIFE IN SPACE”

REVA University IEEE EMBS Student Chapter and School of Multidisciplinary Studies in association with IEEE EMBS Bangalore Chapter in partnership with IEEE Student Branch REVA University organized a workshop on “ASTROBIOLOGY:PUTTING LIFE IN SPACE” on 28th January, 2021. It was an offline event conducted in TESLA LAB, Room No: G-11, Ground Floor, C V Raman Block, REVA University. More than 30 participant from B.Tech. and faculty members attended the session. 

Resource Person:  Dr.Mohammed Riyaz Ahmed, Assistant Director School of Multidisciplinary Studies.

Mohammed Riyaz Ahmed received bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a master’s degree in Computer Network Engineering from Visveswaraya Technical University, Belgaum, India, in 2007 and 2010 respectively, and Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Jain University, India, in 2016. He is currently working as an associate professor and Assistant Director in School of Multidisciplinary Studies at REVA University. He is Founder and Managing Director of PSYSQUARE (an OPC) which focuses on providing solutions in the domain of Cyber-Physical Systems. His research interests include RFID, Smart devices, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Sciences, Machine Learning, Technology Intervention for Elderly, Memristors and Neuromorphic Engineering. He is a recognized mentor from Texas Instruments and recipient of grants from the IEEE standards committee. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.

Session: 8:30 AM to 12:50 PM:
The technical talk started with the importance of research in Astrobiology and brief introduction on finding life in space which impacted the students to understand and analyze the importance and challenges faced in the field. The speaker well presented on the topic “Fundamental Biological Features Of Spaceflight: Advancing the Field to Enable Deep-Space Exploration”. The topics covered in the session are listed below:
•    Hazards of human spaceflight
•    Space risks – Analysis and experimentation – countermeasure
•    Biological features of spaceflight
•    Mission and long-term health risks
•    Multi-omics Monitoring Platform
•    Data repositories and Bio specimen resources
•    Feature Directions in spaceflight biology research.
