On the first day students visited Kannada poet laureate Kuvempu’s birth place, Kuppalli and had a chance to tour the house in which the Poet was born. The house is turned into a museum hosting Kuvempu’s books and the things. Students were briefed about the life and literature of Rastrakavi Kuvempu in the museum with some realistic references extracted from his writings. In the museum, the students also got to know about the Malenadu life with respect to the indigenous customs and folk arts. Later an introduction of many objects related to the Malenadu and the photography of birds by Purnachandra Tejaswi were also explored.

On the second day, students visited Kodachadri Hill. Kodachadri Hill is a unique geographical treasure of nature and the students were guided by the forest department officials on how to preserve it. Students took part in trekking that aimed at student’s personal understanding about the relationship of man and nature. To witness the diversity of the forest and the life of the people living in the forest was an exotic experience to students and their interaction with the Karnataka Forest Dept. facilitated them to look at nature and life very closely. During the trekking, students collected all the plastic materials discarded by tourists in the forest and deposited them at the designated place by the forest department.
