School of Architecture, REVA University conducted an experiential learning session on School design as a part of Architectural Design course for 3rd semester students at Auro Mirra International School, Bangalore on 22nd September 2022. The campus is the tangible manifestation of the philosophy of integral education, constructed so as to gain the blessings of nature. With 150-year-old trees that sprawl and create an oasis in the middle of the busy metro, with a heritage building on campus, with vibrations that put the mind at ease, education ‘happens’ here.
The school has a creative mix of open learning spaces and closed class rooms and other facilities. Sprinkled across the campus are creative spaces that are unique to the environment of the school. Students have the opportunity of a life time, as they can get a chance to study under the trees where they can shake hands with the branches. The classrooms are unique, creative and inspiring, while having all the amenities and comforts necessary for facilitating a healthy learning environment. Students carried out a detailed case study including sketching, measure drawing and material exploration at the school campus.
Further, they also got an opportunity to visit the Aurobindo Bhavan which is housed in a heritage building on the campus itself. The Aurobindo Bhavan, a two-storeyed palace with striking domes, canopies, parapets, large windows and entrance gates with piers. The palace was constructed in 1932 by the Royal family of Nepal.
