The Third Semester MBA students were taken on a visit to Stock Market Institute, Brigade Road, Bengaluru, with an objective of bringing a link between the class room teaching and the actual practice of stock trading.

Stock Market Institute (SMI) was incepted with the vision of creating Capital Market Specialists in Indian and overseas markets through its well-tested models, curriculum and teaching methods imparted by a team of experts in the realm of Stock Market, Fundamental & Technical Analysis, Derivatives, Data Analysis, Commodities, Forex, Mutual Funds, Insurance, Financial Planning and the related.

The session was handled by Mr. Kishore, COO and Co-founder, Educesta Global Services private limited. Mr. Kishore who has over 13 years of experience has worked in the space of stock market and gathered experience of working in top stock broking houses.

The topics covered in two hour long session included an introduction to stock market, the basics of choosing the right stock, an introduction to stock brokers, traders and the different kinds of investors. He also gave an introduction to the operation of the entire stock market and the way in which the trading happens.

He emphasized on the need for applying one’s common sense along with fundamental and technical skills in identifying the right kind of stocks for investments. Mr. Kishore, also gave orientation to students about how to identify the right kind of stocks and companies to invest in.

The two-hour long session was followed by an hour long trading by students by outcry system. The students were briefed about the method of participating in the trading activity and were asked to trade amongst each other in the selected stocks.

In all, the session was very well attended and received by the students who felt that the activities of such stature would introduce them to the real-world situation which would be of great help to them. Such activities it was felt that, would bring in a link between class room teaching and understanding of the real world situations.

The session concluded by a vote of thanks to the team at SMI by the students.
