Webinar on Art of Writing Screenplay for Movies

The Department of Media Studies,School of Arts and Humanities, REVA University organised a webinar on ‘Art of Writing Screenplay for Movies’ on 22nd May 2020 through MS Teams online platform.
The resource person was Mr.Adarsh Eshwarappa, Director, Writer and Editor. During the session, Mr. Eshwarappa explained the process involved in directing movies and various steps involved. He touched upon vital topics such as screenplay, writing dialogue for characters, scriptwriting and its techniques. He also discussed the script of his own movie Shuddhi for the better understanding of the students. Mr. Eshwarappa continued to discuss the difference between the TV serials directed locally and internationally and compared them in terms of technical aspects. He also insisted on the vital role a script plays in a movie. “If there is no song required for the script, then there is no need to add them for commercial purposes,” he said, while adding that both his movies Shuddhi and Bhinna did not contain any songs. Throughout the session, Mr. Eshwarappa stressed on writing a good screenplay. Further, he also encouraged students to read various scripts on ‘The Internet Movie Script Database’ to develop their knowledge in this particular field.The webinar was concluded with an interactive session. The participants were given valuable insights on many aspects in relation to screenplay.
