Description: School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Team 3 in association with SPCRD Lab organized webinar session on “SDRs: The ELIXIR for Wireless Networks” on 9-11-2020 at 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM. The resource person was Dr. A V Kulkarni who is Dean Research in D. Y Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri, Pune and more than 30 participants including students, Faculties and research scholars from REVA as well as outside university have attended the session.
Dr. A V Kulkarni is working in D. Y Patil Institute of Technology as Professor and Dean Research. She did her BE from Gulbarga University, ME from University of Pune and Ph.D. from Savitribai Phule Pune University. Her domain of research are interference mitigation, software defined radio, smart antennas, cognitive radio, 5G technology, pervasive computing. She has guided 7 Ph.D. scholar and currently guiding 6 students. She has got funding of about 35 lakhs from agencies such as DST, ISRO, DRDO etc for her project. She has published around 90 publications among which 73 are research oriented. She has published 4 patents. She is NBA evaluator and OBE certified expert. Dr. A V Kulkarni has mentored many institutions in and around Pune for NBA accreditations.
A software-defined radio (SDR) is referring to the technology wherein software modules running on a generic hardware platform consisting of DSPs and general-purpose microprocessors used to implement radio functions such as generation of transmitted signal (modulation) at transmitter and tuning/detection of received radio signal (demodulation) at receiver.
