As part of the course History of Architecture, Temple Architecture of South India, a workshop was conducted on the importance of Bhakti movement in influencing Hindu temple forms. The workshop traced the contribution of the Bhakti saints- the Alwars and the Nayanars who were instrumental in bringing about a change in ideology in both Shaivism and Vaishnavism during the Chola and Pandya periods. The Architectural narration by Associate professor Vidya Srikanth of the School of Architecture brought to life the association of the compositions in context to the temples of Tanjavur, Srirangam, Melkote, Srivalliputtur, Udupi and Hampi. The workshop delved into compositions like the Thevaram and Tiruppavai rendered by Classical Vocalist Smt. Aishwarya Vidhya Raghunath, accompanied on the violin by Smt. Aditi Krishna Prakash and on the tabla by Vijay Bellary, student of Architecture. There was an interpretation of the Andal Tiruppavai choreographed and danced by students Apeksha Karanth and Vidya Vijayan.

The workshop was seen as a fresh approach in course delivery in understanding the impact of this heterogeneous movement and its influences from the 8th to 14th Century in South India.
