Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics, the Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Sciences organized a workshop on 29/11/2022 to 30/11/22. The resource person for the talk was Prof. Prashantha CN, Dr. Karthick Vasudevan, Dr. Dasegowda K.R, Prof. Majji Rambabu, and Dr. Vivek Keshri are experienced and expertise in computational drug design namely Introduction to Drug Discovery and Development, Disease Target identification, Bioinformatics Methods to identify disease targets, Sequence Analysis, Protein Structure Prediction, Molecular Modelling, Active Site prediction. The workshop was conducted offline Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics Lab, Science Block, School of Applied Sciences, REVA University. 30 undergraduate and postgraduate students and PhD Scholars from Biotechnology, Microbial technology, chemistry and Bioinformatics attended the session.
The session started with Prof. Shilpa BR, Deputy director and HOD of Dept of Biotechnology with introduction and overall contents of workshop. The first talk of workshop is Introduction to Drug Discovery and Development of the resource person by Prof. Prashantha CN followed by Dr. Dasegowda KR, his talk on Disease Target identification and Bioinformatics Methods to identify disease targets. The third talk Sequence Analysis is handled by Dr. Vivek Keshri. In the afternoon Protein Structure Prediction, Molecular Modelling techniques was handled by Prof. Majji Rambabu and Dr. Karthick Vasudevan with hands on session by participants. The second day of workshop is started with theory and hands on session of molecular docking by Prof. Majji Rambabu. The second day afternoon session theory and hands on session molecular dynamics by Dr. Karthick Vasudevan. After completion of all technical talks and hands on sessions. Feedback forms are submitted and valedictory session chaired by Prof. Shilpa BR deputy director, School of applied science and HOD dept of Biotechnology. The work shop is concluded with certificate distribution to all the participants.
