03 Oct 2018
Programme Objective:
• To study the instrumentation, concept and software of using flow cytometry
• To understand and analysis of result interpretation using flow Cytometry software
Programme Outcome:
• Students were confident to operate the flow cytometer instrument and its software and thus were competent to analyse the result after three days workshop session.
The workshop “Flow Cytometry” was held from 3rd to 5th October 2018 and the trainers were Dr. Badri Narayan (Course instructor), Dr. Sanjay Malik (Cofounder Cytometry solutions), Ms. Shreyeshi, and Mr. Shreyas from M/s Cytometry solutions. A total of 47 student of M.Sc. I Semester attended the workshop.
Day 1: First day was the theoretical session handled by Dr. Bhadri on the Basics of Flow Cytometry i.e the basic understanding of the principle required for the process of flow Cytometry technique and a introductory session on the Software used i.e BD Accuri which was well explained in detailed by Dr. Sanjay Malik.
Day 2: Initial theory session was handled by Dr. Bhadri and concept of light and fluorescence was discussed to understand the laser technology. Further, practical session was handled by Dr. Sanjay Malik and the students were allowed to run the samples and analyze the data produced in BD Accuri. The plant based samples used in flow analysis and graphs were analyzed and its basic interpretation was explained.
Day 3: Dr. Bhadri discussed about doublet discrimination module and compensation procedure. He also emphasised its importance in the application of flow cytometer. Towards the end, there was a questionnaire interaction session between the trainers and the students. The session was handled by Dr. Bhadri and Ms. Shreyasi.
