Workshop on Theatrical Skills

The School of Arts and Humanities of REVA University holds literary activities for students across schools. Theatre Club provides a platform for students to express their creativity and explore their literary skills in a practical and passionate manner.

In the month of the August a five-day workshop was held for the students of III Semester MA English students in continuation with the ongoing activities of the club. The students chose an American classic play which they adapted to an Indian context. The students learnt the art of script writing, adaptation for theatre, and basics of direction.

The students were trained by theatre experts who have been working with the team to prefect their skills. With their guidance the students were selected for a National Theatre Festival- Rangmanch, at Jyothy Nivas College. This prestigious competition is a prized platform where colleges and universities from across the nation participate. This was the first time that REVA University was represented in this nationally recognised Theatre fest. The students shared the stage with most of the premier institutions in Bangalore as well as Kolkata, and Madras.

On the 26th August, 2019, the final performance was held at Jyothy Nivas College Auditorium where 11 teams participated. The student’s performance was recognised for being the most creative and entertaining of all. The exposure and the learning experiences was the best reward that students received.
The Theatre Club created a new benchmark by this initiation into a National level competition. Students are now determined to represent REVA University every year and work hard towards winning an accolade for the institution the next time. For now, the Club holds its head high for creating history and for making its mark among veteran literary and theatre bigwigs.
