Zero Plate Waste Campaign and AIKYA Orientation Programme

Objective of the Programme:
The School of Computing and Information Technology, in association with, AIKYA Leadership Forum, a unit of Akshaya Patra Foundation, organized an awareness campaign for “Zero Plate Waste” for the first year students of SoCIT and EEE. The campaign highlighted the importance of not wasting food at individual as well community levels. The students from SoCIT and EEE were informed about the enormous actual cost and effort of a large number of people that goes in for bringing the food to their plate, and of the plight of a vast portion of our population that goes hungry due to lack of food.

The programme involved all students and faculty members to take a pledge of not wasting the food. This will help us contribute to sustainable social setup and cut down on consumption of fuel that goes in for the surplus cooking process and thus reduce the environmental emissions.

The programme also included an introduction to AIKYA and the philanthropic initiatives it is involved in.
