Dr. Payel Dutta Chowdhury
Dr. Payel Dutta Chowdhury

Dr. Payel Dutta Chowdhury is Professor and Director, School of Arts and Humanities. She was awarded with Doctoral Degree by Assam (Central) University for her dissertation on African American women's writings. She was First Rank Holder and Gold Medalist in M.A. English and B.Ed. from Assam (Central) University.
Her interest in various fields initiated her to pursue studies in many inter-disciplinary subjects. She holds Post-Graduate Degrees in English, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Business Administration (HRM). Her areas of specialization include Gender Studies and Indian Writings in English with special emphasis on North-East Indian literature.
She is the author of the book Dynamics of Self, Family and Community (ISBN: 978-3-330-05991-7) published by LAP, Germany in 2017. She has published over 50 research papers in reputed national and international journals and edited books. She has presented several research papers in national and international seminars and conferences. She is a consultant book reviewer for Deccan Herald newspaper and her reviews and articles are regularly published in the newspaper. She has been selected as an Associate in Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS), Shimla for the term 2018-2020 to carry out her post-doctoral research. At present she is involved in guiding 8 Ph. D. research scholars.
She was a member of the Textbook Committee for Optional English of Bangalore University and has been instrumental in bringing out four textbooks (Literary Vistas, I – IV) for the B.A. students. She has authored the study material on "Gender Studies" for M.A. students and "Literature of India: An Introduction" for 3rd year B.A. Optional English students of Bangalore University (DDE).
Prior to joining REVA University, she has served as HOD-Languages and Vice Principal at Garden City College, Bangalore. She has participated in training programs related to soft skills, innovative techniques in teaching-learning, new methodologies in teaching, etc. She has delivered talks to staff and students on communication skills, voice culture, soft skills, teaching methodologies, research methodologies, etc. She has organized orientation programs for students and staff and delivered talks on various language components, media studies, communication skills, etc. She has been proactive in organizing six International conferences and several workshops for teachers and students and has always shown active interest in theatrical skills and other performance arts.

Dr. Sreenivas Murthy .K , Associate Professor in Arts and Humanities, holds PhD in Hindi from Bangalore University, and He also holds M.A (Hindi), PG Diploma in Translation from Bangalore University and B.Ed from DBHP Sabha Chennai. He has 18 years of teaching experience at UG level. He worked as Assistant professor and HOD in AIMS Bangalore for 11 years, worked as HOD in REVA institute for since and Technology, Ganganagar Bangalore for 2 years. He has also worked as Faculty in Sambhram Academy of Management Studies Bangalore for 2 years. He has authored 3 books namely “SRILAKSHMIKANT VARMA KE KATHA SAHITYA ME JANVAADI CHETANA” (ISBN: 81-7868-071-8), OOHALA ODILOO and KAVITHA TARANGALU. He participated many Seminars, workshops, presented and published papers in international conferences. He is a member of HINDI Association (Jnankiran) of Bangalore University.

Dr. C. Chamundeshwari, Associate Professor, School of Arts & Humanities, holds Ph. D. in 'English Language Teaching' from Anna University, Chennai. Her doctoral thesis focused on 'A Study on Computer Assisted Language Learning', she also holds a M. Phil. in Sociology and MA in English Literature and MA in Sociology with B. Ed. She has 14 years of teaching experience and One year of Industrial Experience. She has published 4 research papers in international journals and presented 6 papers in international conferences and one paper in national conference. Her areas of interest include: English Language Teaching (ELT) and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL).

She has received 'Three' gold medals from Bangalore University for scoring the highest marks during the course of her master's program.She has completed her 'E-Script Writing Course for Films and Television' organized by St. Xavier College, Kolkata in collaboration with UGC-CEC in 2006. Her areas of interest are British Literature, Critical Theory, Feminist Writing, Industrial Psychology and Journalism. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. from Bangalore University.

Prof. Lingappa B.M, Assistant Professor, School of Arts and Humanities, has a vast teaching experience of 32 years. He holds M.A. degree in Kannada with Linguistics as specialization. He is a passionate pursuer of literature learning and teaching. He started his career in 1984 as Asst. Professor in Kannada in SJR College and since 2009 he is working in REVA University. He was also presented with the Best Teacher Award from REVA University. He is a multi-faceted personality adored by his students. He has also been a resource person in many national and international conferences and workshops. He is an active member of the Text Book and Question papers framing committees of many universities. He is enthusiastically involved in organizing the cultural events for the students and strives for their excellence.

Ms. NASREEN GHANI is an Assistant Professor at School of Arts and Humanities. She has a Masters degree in English and has been teaching the subject for the past 20 years in reputed institutions. She has presented and published several papers and articles in reputed national and international journals and conferences. Her interest in translation led her to publish a short story that was translated from Tamil to English. Besides teaching she has worked in different capacities namely, a paper setter, reviewer and examiner for Bangalore University and CMR College. She was one of the members of the Board of Examination for CMR college and REVA University. She has chaired sessions at international conferences, conducted various workshops, and has been actively involved in literary and cultural activities.She has been the recipient of the Appreciation Award from Presidency College for three consecutive years. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D degree at Rayalaseema University.

Prasad Gowda T S, a proficient lecturer in English, is serving in Reva for the past three years in PU and UG, teaching literature and linguistics. He has obtained his MA degree from Bangalore University, and currently pursuing his Ph.D in the same university. This young enthusiast has played a vital role in the making of the movie on food wastage named "Shudh" produced by REVA University and is a part of social awareness club in REVA. His areas of interests are Culture Studies, Gender Studies, and British Literature. He has attended a number of national and International seminars on language, literature, and criticism.

She has 5 years of teaching experience. She has been teaching Technical English, Communicative English and General English for engineering students. She has attended various workshops.Her interested areas are Indian writing in English and Feminist writings. She has published the article in reputed journals. She has further translated Chaduranga’s Kannada short stories into English. Besides Reva University she worked in Nitte College as Assistant Professor, worked for yearly magazine. She even prepared study materials for the B tech students. She is much interested in cultural activities like dance and music, she has completed junior level in Karnataka classical music. She completed her PGDELT (Post Graduate Diploma in English Language Teaching) and M. Phil in English Language. She is currently pursuing Ph. D. in ELT from REVA University; Bangalore She has been teaching Optional English, Functional English, General English, Business Communication skills, Literature and ELT for the last 11 years. She is a Cambridge University Certified BEC Higher (Business English Certificate) Trainer. She is also associated in training students with various Cambridge University Exams like KET, PET, FCE and British Council examinations Like IELTS and TOEFL. She has membership with professional bodies like Cambridge English Teacher(British Council), Cambridge English Language Assessment and Matthew Stock well; Cambridge ESOL. She has presented 12 research papers in National and International conferences on various topics. She had completed Two projects : one on preparing lesson plans with specific objectives for Macro Teaching Practice which is called ELTEM and the other on Editing "A studial approach to writing expository essays" (both reading and writing).She has further translated Hindi Short Stories "Saranaagath" and "Chotta Jadugar" by Jai Shankar Prasad into English rendering.

Mr. Manjunatha, Associate Professor, Arts and Humanities (Media Studies), holds a M. Sc. and M.Phil. degree in Electronic Media and Mass Communication from Bangalore University. With a professional experience spanning more than a decade, he has contributed majorly in every aspect. His areas of interest cover everything from reporting, print media, electronic media to international communication, political communication and media research. He has published numerous research papers in national and international journals. Besides that, he has also directed and produced several Documentary and Corporate Movies on social and political issues. His association with ISRO, PRCI and Universities across India as Committee member as well as a Board member only enhances the various commendable qualities that he possesses.

Dr. Premalatha holds Ph.D in Indian Feminist Literature from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Her Doctoral thesis focused on Evolution in the Portrayal of Women Characters in the works Indian women writers. Her M.Phil thesis focused on African-American and Dalit writings. She holds M.Sc in Psychology and has 13 years of Teaching Experience. She has published research papers in various journals and presented papers in International as well as National Conferences. She has attended workshops conducted by Infosys ‘Campus Connect Soft Skills’ and has organised a two day Faculty Development Programme at Sambhram College of Management Studies. She has taken Personality Development classes for UG students and has taught cultural studies as a part of a bridge course to Afghan students at Brindavan College. Her areas of interests include African American Literature, Translation Studies, Partition Literature, Gender Studies and Diasporic Writings. Currently she is an Assistant Professor in the School of Arts and Humanities, REVA University, Bengaluru.

Sudeshna Das has completed her M.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism from Tezpur Central University, Assam and holds an M.Phil. Degree from Christ University in Bangalore, Karnataka. Besides this she is also a UGC NET degree holder. Her area of specialization includes print media, development communication & film studies. Her prior teaching experiences include the position of an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Studies, Garden City College, Bangalore. She has been instrumental in organizing several film festivals, seminars and conferences, workshops, photography exhibitions, guide for dissertations etc. during her stint. She has been a BOS Member and external examiner for other universities in Bangalore. Besides devising the syllabus components for Journalism and Mass Communication her main core focus is in Lab Journal Production, Film Screening and Appreciation Sessions to Wall Magazine Productions and Research activities. She has presented over 10 research papers in national and international seminars and conferences and won the Best Paper Award for the paper titled ‘An Exploratory Study of Youth Awareness of Propaganda Aspect in War Films’. Prior to this, she has also interned with esteemed newspaper organizations like ‘The Hindu’ and ‘he Assam Tribune’ and regional TV News Channel ‘Newslive’. Presently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. from DOS in Journalism and Communication, University of Mysore, Karnataka.

Dr. Hemantha Kumar V has completed his M.Sc. (Clinical Psychology) and M.Phil. in Psychology and is qualified in UGC-NET/JRF following which he pursued his Ph.D. in Psychology. Besides this, he has also completed a PG Diploma in Human Resource Management from Bangalore University and has more than ten years of teaching experience and organizational experience as a Clinical Psychologist. He has participated and presented research papers on various topics like Coping Strategies, Anxiety and Depression in Adolescent students etc. in National and International Conferences across the country. His research papers have received wide recognition and he has been awarded with the BEST SCIENTIFIC PAPER AWARD in many National and International Conferences. His key strengths are Guidance and Counselling, Mental Health, Research in Clinical Psychology, Industrial Psychology, and Adolescent Mental Health etc. His research papers were published in National and International Journals. He is also the BOE Member of Bangalore University and a question paper setter for other private universities. She has a Master’s degree and a Ph.Din English Literature from the University of Allahabad.Her topic of research was “Theme of Violence in British Drama from 1956 to 1960 with Particular reference to the Plays of John Osborne.”Besides this Sheisalso qualified the UGC-NET in English.She has presented several scholarly research papers in International and National Conferences and Seminars and has many research publications to her credit.Her immense experience has been recognized and she has been invited as the as a Question-Paper setter for Bangalore University. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal Literary Confluence and Creative Launcher. Her strong academic background earnedher the National Scholarship of Merit in her pre –university class which continued till she graduated. She was selected for Lectureship for the Public Service Commission of Uttar Pradesh after securing the 2ndrank. According to her, teachingdemands high creativity, presence of mind and clear communication so that the students are motivated to perform better. Her areas of interest for research work and study are primarily Gender Perspectives in Literature and fictional writings by young writers of the day, Theatre and Film Studies, Russian Writers and LGBT literature. Ms. Anupama B.N is an Assistant Professor of English in the School of Arts and Humanities, REVA University, Bengaluru. Her areas of interest include Indian writings in English, Diasporic writings, African-American literature and Afghan literature. She holds a Post-Graduate Degree in English from Mangalore University and an MPhil Degree in English Literature from Madurai Kamaraj University. Her research was on African-American literature. Currently she is pursuing her PhD from REVA University, Bengaluru and her research is on Afghan Literature. She has presented twelve scholarly research papers at acclaimed National and International conferences and seminars on various topics. She has published seven research articles in reputed peer-reviewed and UGC approved journals.
Before joining REVA University, she has worked as the Head of the Department – English, at CMR Institute of Management Studies (Autonomous), Bangalore. In her twelve years of teaching, she has taught various subjects at both UG and PG levels – General English, Additional English, Personality Development & Communication Skills, Communicative English, Business Communication and Professional Communication. She has been instrumental in designing the English syllabi for I-IV semesters - BCom, BBA, BSc, BCA, and MCA, at her previous institution.
She has conducted various levels of English language training sessions for African, Srilankan, Chinese, Thai (Administrative & Management Staff and Teachers from Assumption College, Rayong & Lampang, Thailand) and Korean students (Youngdong University, South Korea, Seoul Digitech High School, South Korea). She has effectively trained several Indian students on the Cambridge University pattern – BEC, KET, PET and British Council Examination, IELTS. She has given a Keynote address at a state level seminar and has actively facilitated a Faculty Development Programme at CMRIMS.

Mr. Praveen Abraham, is a Post Graduate in Journalism and Mass Communication from Kannur University, Kerala. He has eight years of experience in teaching multidisciplinary areas of Journalism which includes Reporting, New Media, Media Research, Communication Theories, Photography and Television Production. Besides being qualified with KSET, he is also a certified Life Skill trainer from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Chennai.
Before joining up with REVA University, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore. He worked as a member of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Coordinator for Civil Service Training Programmes and Editor for Online Magazines. He was a news presenter for SGC Television Channel, Kerala for three years. He has produced various documentaries and short films on leading social issues with high intellectual and entertainment values.

Sumathi Nagesh is an Assistant Professor at the School of Arts and Humanities, REVA University. She has completed her Masters in English Literature from the University of Hyderabad, following which she pursued her MPhil in Comparative Literature from the same Institution. Her extensive engagement with Theatre Studies began during her MPhil research. Currently, she a PhD Research Scholar at the Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Hyderabad, working on Gender and Ibsen’s Translations in Kannada Theatre. A multidisciplinary approach to her work includes Gender Studies, Translation Studies, Performance Studies, and Culture Studies.
She has authored two research papers in peer – reviewed and UGC recognised journals. She has presented two papers at International Conferences and was selected to attend The 4th World Conference on Women’s Studies, 2018. She has attended National Conferences and presented two papers, besides being involved in organizing and coordinating several conferences.
Besides an academic preoccupation with theatre, she has been a part of various theatre productions and workshops as a script writer, actor, as well as a facilitator. Her specialities include Forum Theatre, Street Theatre, and devised performance.
She has worked at St. Joseph’s UG&PG College at Hyderabad. During which time she collated and developed Gender Sensitivity as a value-added course. She was an active member of the Women Empowerment Cell and initiated an array of activities under this wing.
Her aspirations are to evolve an activity - based pedagogy to teach Gender and Literature. Just as her academics, her teaching is multidisciplinary and dynamic. Possessing a zest for teaching and training, she constantly strives at innovative teaching methodologies.

Dr. Maya Sagare, Assistant Professor, School of Arts and Humanities, REVA University, has a Ph.D.in Hindi from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (MH), and M.A. in Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded (MH). She has a work experience of 15 years. She has taught Pre-University, Graduate and Post Graduate students. She has excellent communication skills and good knowledge of digital classroom which helps her in developing her passion towards teaching. As a language teacher, she practices activity based learning. She is equally interested in research. Her research areas are Anchalik Upanyas, Media, Prayojanmulak Hindi, Stree Vimarsh, etc.
She has published a book entitled, “Prayojanmulak Hindi”. Apart from this she has published 15 articles and research papers published in various research journals in National and International conferences. She actively participates in workshops and conferences.
She is the life member of different associations like Sant Kabir Pratishthan, Latur (MH) and Gyan Kiran Teachers Association, Bangalore.
She has organized many National Conferences. She is an adjudicator of Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras.

She is trained and certified in life skill from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperampudur and has been training UG and PG students to overwhelm the worldly challenges confidently.She is passionate pursuer of literature and innovatively transforming teaching methodology by which students enjoy the literature.
She has participated and presented papers in many National and International conferences. Her creative mind spurts the seed of Shakespeare theater and live exhibitions for revealing hidden treasure of students, where she is an instrumental in effectively organizing these lively programs with the active participation of students to exhibit in-depth value of literature. She has been a member of Board of Examination and Board of Studies of various college and university. Her area of interest is Indian Literature.

Ms. Sharanya.S, Assistant Professor, School of Arts and Humanities has an M.Sc in Psychology (HRDM) from Christ University. She has two years of exclusive experience in Adolescent Counseling. In her Counseling career she has counseled over thousand clients on various issues like depression, anxiety, academia, relationships, career and parental concerns. She has been awarded the “Masti Iyengar Award” from Bangalore University along with Gold Medal for securing high grades in psychology. She is passionate about changing the stigma on Mental Health. She also shares an interest in presenting papers on Counseling and Mental Wellness at various National Conferences.

She believes in building a good rapport with students and fellow beings with a view to understanding the essence of humanitarian bliss and to strive towards academic achievements. Literature arrests her attention in that it is highly innovative and reflective, inspiring minds to comprehend the complexity and beauty of life, human mind and human relationships.
She has completed her master’s degree in English Literature from Tezpur Central University, Tezpur, Assam. Her areas of interest include American Literature, Gender Studies and Post- Colonialism. She brings along a total of four years of experience in teaching in a college. She has worked as an Assistant Professor in English in Kaliabor College, a government college in Kuwaritol, Nagaon,Assam (Accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC) where she had taught English Literature to B.A.(General) and B.A.(Honours) students, Communicative and Functional English to students of BBA, BCA, BSC, B.COM and B.VOC. She had also imparted coaching to TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) aspiring candidates in the same college. She also imparted Distance Education to students on Sundays in another government college, named Tezpur College under KK Handique, State Open University, Assam, India. She is a SLET (State Level Eligibility Test) qualified. She worked as an English Language Trainer for six months in Value Point Academy, an English language institute in Kammanahalli, Bangalore.
She has presented three papers in National Seminars, besides attending workshops and seminars. She has published articles in ISBN and ISSN journals. She has authored a review article on a poem in The Assam Tribune, Guwahati, June 11, 2016. She has also authored a course unit on William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury for CODL (Centre for Open and Distance Learning), Tezpur University, Tezpur, Assam. She had participated in debates and recitation competitions in her UG and PG levels and won a few awards.

Mr. Ehboklang Pyngrope, has completed his Master of Arts in English from Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, in 2018. He is a Ph.D. research scholar at REVA University and his area of interest includes Gender Studies, Women’s Writing, Indian Writings in English and LGBT studies. His doctoral research is based on an exploration of Khasi tribal oral tradition. He is an enthusiastic poet who spends his time composing for recreational purposes. He is also very keen on theatre; he was an actor and a director in a few shows during his course of study. Ehboklang Pyngrope has also presented six papers in National and International Conferences, besides attending various conferences. He has published an article in a research journal. He also holds a Life Skill Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development.

Mr. Puneethkumar L, Assistant Professor in the School of Arts and Humanities, has an M.A. in Kannada Literature with a specialization in Cultural Studies from Bangalore University. He has done his Post Graduate Diploma in Shasana (Inscription). He holds three and a half years of teaching experience. Besides this, he has qualified UGC- KSET. He has published and presented four research papers in National and International Conferences. He is a creative writer in Kannada. He has published an anthology, Bhudi. He has also edited a critical book VanadaOodu in Kannada literature. His areas of interests are Culture Studies, Interdisciplinary discussion, Social Movement and Theatre. He is currently pursuing his M.Phil. from Kannada University, Hampi, Vidyaranya.

She has done her Masters in English Language and Literature and Bachelors in Education from M G University, Kerala. Having qualified State Eligibility Test and Central Teachers Eligibility Test, she has been a language trainer for more than 5 years. Being a highly skilled creative thinker and writer, she started off her career as an Editorial Trainee with Malayala Manorama daily and then joined a leading Health magazine as the Editor. Apart from being a creative writer, she has proved her flair in State/National Debate, Public Speaking Competitions. She is a humanitarian who has her research interest in Gender Studies as she finds the politics of gender and power relations, constrained. Her areas of interest include Post Modern Literature, Indian English Writing, Film Studies and ELT.

Having worked as a Copy Editor in McKinsey & Co for years, she landed her dream career in Academia when she started working for Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bangalore. She has qualified UGC-NET in 2012. She has participated in national and international conferences and has also published one paper in an international journal. She is a third-rank holder in B.A. Communicative English from University of Kerala. Her areas of interest lies in World War Literature, Anthrozoological Studies, and Postmodernism.

Mr. B A Manoj holds a Post Graduate Degree in Communication from Bangalore University, Bengaluru. He has qualified NET in December 2012. He has eight years of experience in teaching Communication theories, Mass Media Research, Development Communication, Media Issues and Radio Production. He worked in All India Radio, Bengaluru as Programme Assistant in Kannada Talks Section during 2008-09. Also, he was a Project Fellow for a UGC Major Research Project ‘Role of Television Channels in Rural Development in Karnataka’, during 2010 - 2013 at the Department of Communication, Bangalore University, Bengaluru. He is a member of the Board of Studies and Board of Examinations in various universities. Also, he was a Subject Expert for faculty evaluation and recruitment in M S Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Bengaluru. Guided nearly 200 Undergraduate students and more than 50 Postgraduate students for their research thesis. He has organized several national conferences, student fests, workshops and seminars; presented papers in International and national conferences. Participated in many debates and discussions on Kannada channels. Before joining REVA he served as the Coordinator and Head of the PG and UG Departments of Journalism and Mass Communication respectively at NMKRV College for Women, Bengaluru for six years. He was the IQAC member; served as the Editor and Associate Editor of many magazines; Coordinator of many certificate courses at NMKRVCW. Also, he edited the annual magazine of RV Trust for two years.
