It is our great pleasure to share that at School of EEE have conducted one day Workshop on "Challenges and Operation of Microgrid Systems in Indian Power Scenario" on 4th March 2017. The Workshop was inaugurated by our honorable Chancellor Dr. P. Shyama Raju sir and the chief Guest on the occasion Shri. Gangaprasad, Sr. Director, Center for Development & Advanced Computing (CDAC), Bangalore.

 

While delivering the presidential address our honorable chancellor sir had emphasized on implementation of renewable energy systems to reduce the environmental pollution and going for microgrid systems to avoid losses from central generation & distribution system which will again help in reduction of environmental pollution. He also stressed upon giving more importance for teaching the students in fields to give more exposure to practical learning for the students. The chief guest Shri. Gangaprasad also stressed upon the implementation of microgrid along with renewable energy systems. During the workshop Dr. S.Y. Kulkarni, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dr. Rajesh Siddavatam, Pro Vice-Chancellor were also present during the occasion. Dr. B.P. Divakar, Dean R & I addressed the delegates and told about the new avenues for research in the field of microgrid and renewable energy system. Dr. Rajashekar P. Mandi, Director, School of EEE welcomed the Honorable guests & delegates and highlighted about the workshop. Prof. Mahesh G.S., proposed vote of thanks.

 

The technical sessions were handled by Shri. G.L. Gangaprasad, Sr. Director, CDAC in first session, second session by Shri. B.S. Bindumadhav, Associate Director and third session is handled by Dr. Rajashekar P. Mandi, Director, School of EEE.

 

During Concluding session, Dr. S.Y. Kulkarni, Pro Vice-Chancellor distributed the certificates to the delegates and addressed the participants. He narrated about the importance and necessity of microgrids in view of shortage of power as well as controlling the environmental issues. He emphasized that in future, the microgrids may become mandatory. The Workshop was attended by 40 delegates from other institutions and also our in-house final year UG & PG students, research scholars and our faculties.
