Inauguration of Fluid Power Society of India Student Chapter

Fluid Power Society of India (Regd.), which was established in 1973, is a non-profit professional body committed to promoting Fluid Power knowledge and technology in the country. FPSI has made remarkable progress over the last 4 decades. The Fluid Power Industry has evolved comprehensively over the last century and has generated intensive research, efficient production systems and integrated applications.

The formal inauguration of FLUID POWER SOCIETY OF INDIA STUDENT CHAPTER” REVA University, was held on 12th October,2017 at 10.45am. The chief guest for the program was Shri. Ramakantha Murthy, Vice-President Chairman Education Committee-FPSI. The program commenced with lamp lighting by the dignitaries including Dr P. ShyamaRaju, Hon’ble Chancellor of REVA University, Dr. S.Y.Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor,REVA University, Shri. Ramakantha Murthy, Vice-President Chairman Education Committee-FPSI, Dr. Y. Ramalinga Reddy, Director, CE & Associate Dean(C&ME), REVA University, Dr. K S Narayanaswamy, Director, School of Mechanical Engineering, REVA University.

As part of Industry-Academia Initiative, student chapters havebeen opened in various leading colleges; to enable student do apprenticeship programmes in fluid power companies, facilitate industrial visits to FPSI member companies, award engineering projects to the students and to develop their leadership qualities. Focused Sessions are also allotted in technical seminars for student presentations.

Shri.Ramakanth Murthy, Vice President, Chairman Education Committee-FPSI, highlighted the points like FPSI would look forward to your continued support to take the relation to the next level. From FPSI side, we would like to provide the following services to your students:

  1. Industrial visit - For a batch of 20 as our member-industries would prefer the number to be limited for better focus and attention.
  2. Internship: Short term internship
  3. Project work: We need to talk to the company concerned before we commit the duration and the number of students. For this, we request you to give us sufficient advance notice before they commit to some other college. Normally, it would be on first-come-first-serve basis.
  4. Training programmes/workshops: We have on our panel, limited number of resources for conducting training programmes. Hence, if you could give us your annual calendar for training purposes, we will be able to take their commitment before-hand and block their calendar as well.

A technical talk was arranged after this formal inauguration by Shri. Suresh Kannan, CEO- Kolben Hydraulics, Special Invitee for FPSI, on “Prospects of Fluid Power application in the present industrial scenario”.In his technical talk he explained different aspect like introduction to fluid power, advantages of fluid power, applications of fluid power system, basics of hydraulics, pascal’s law, applications of pascal’s law, structure of hydraulic system and job opportunities in fluid power industries.

Total 75 students’ members were present for this program and benefited by technical talk on “Prospects of Fluid Power application in the present industrial scenario”.
