Analysis Of Igbc Green Rating Systems Through Case Study Method

Students of 5th Semester had to conduct a case study of a LEED green rated building as per the Energy Efficient Buildings subject coursework. We started out with a case study of our own REVA University Administrative building, which is LEED Platinum Rated. They got to interpret the IGBC Green Rating System in the process. Further, since students needed a fair understanding of how the green building concepts could be incorporated at a smaller scale, we took to visit a LEED Platinum rated residence of Mr. Selvarasu Director of LEAD Consultancy (Green Consultants).

Mr. Selvarasu had planned a structured presentation to start off with, followed by a walk through of the residence with observation of energy efficient features and detailed explanation of active and passive systems adopted. The whole visit concluded with a question answer session, giving clarity on the subject. He left the students intrigued to go back and do an analysis with the IGBC Green Home Rating System as reference.

Students were highly motivated to design green, energy efficient buildings;thus, making the planet a better place to live in!
