International Mother Language Day Celebration

REVA University,School of Performing Arts,organized a one day “INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY” in association with the Mark Media Communications.The International Mother Language day has been recognized on February 21st by the UNESCO and has been made mandatory by the UGC to be celebrated in every University across India.In connection with this, many speakers from different language background have taken part in the one day conference that has been dedicated to the spreading of the importance of the Mother language all over the World.

Hon’ble Chancelor of REVAUniversity, Dr.P.Shyama Rajugraced the event with his presence as the Chief Guest for the occasion. The programme was also atended by the Vice-Chancelor,Dr.S.Y.Kulkarni,The Registrar,Dr.M.Dhananjay, AssociateDean,School of Arts and Humanities,Dr.G.Beena,Director of School of Performing Arts,Dr. VasanthKiran,and the Faculty and Staff of the REVA University.

The event started with a lamp lighting and the Chief Guest,Hon’ble Chancelor,Dr.P. ShyamaRaju, delivered his speech in which he emphasized the importance of the Mother language that needs to be a priority to everyone.

The Speakers who attended from different linguistic backgrounds spoke on the occasion. Dr. Vasanth Kiran,spoke about the greatness of the language Kannada and also explained the meaning of a Bhavageethe that was rendered by Ms.Disha Bhat,a student of the REVA University on this occasion.

Dr. G. Beena delivered an excellent speech on the importance of English language as a Universal language quoting many examples from different texts that she as a Linguistic professor understood after reading many translations.This was followed by a presentation by Ms.Ishita Shah,a Gujarathi,who discussed about the serious issue of languages geting extint due to less or no usage. The programme also had Ms.Umita A. Melwani,Founder of IFLac and SriVenkatasuberamanian.P,Founder of Vyomalabs for Sanskrit in atendance, who also delivered the irvisions and ideas on Motherlanguage and its importance.

The conference was also atended by many students in huge numbers from different linguistic backgrounds. Mr.Musawer from Afghanisthan spoke about the importance of learning the language of the place that you live in.Mr.Leo from Africa spoke about the different problems that one faces when they come to a foreign land and the explained the necessity of learning languages.
