Report of Science Popularization programme organised by School of Physical Sciences (Physics)

 

Held On: 28 Feb, 2018

 

The School of Physical Sciences (Physics) had organised Science Popularization programme on 28/02/2018 at Government Higher Primary School, Hunsemaranahalli, on occasion of National Science day, which is being conducted in India every year on 28th February to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman.

 

Honorable Chancellor of REVAUniversity, Dr.P.Shyama Rajugraced the event with his presence as the Chief Guest for the occasion. The programme was also attended by the Vice-Chancelor,Dr.S.Y.Kulkarni,The Registrar,Dr.M.Dhananjay, Associate Dean,School of Arts and Humanities,Dr.G.Beena,Director of School of Performing Arts,Dr. Vasanth Kiran,and the Faculty and Staff of the REVA University.

The M.Sc. students (2nd Semester) along with faculties of School of Physical Sciences (Physics) were demonstrated many experiments and models such as Tyndall Effect, Raman effect, Brownian motion, Water Level Indicator experiment, Different types of water purification systems, water cycle, concave lens and convex lens experiments, experiment on differentiating conductors, semiconductors and insulators, different phases of moon, solar and lunar eclipse, experiment on water density etc. The school students were enthusiastically interacted with our M.Sc. students to learn the mechanism/basic concepts of the experiments. Even the school teachers had also actively interacted with our M.Sc. students to learn the making of science models.

Finally, the head master and teachers of the school acknowledged and appreciated the effort made by our M.Sc. students to enrich the knowledge of their school students.

We are very much thankful to our Honorable Chancellor Sir Dr. P. Shyama Raju, Vice Chancellor Sir Dr. S. Y. Kulkarni, Registrar Sir Dr. M. Dhanamjay, Dr. N. Ramesh Sir Dean, Placement training & planning, Associate Dean Dr. Beena madam for providing basic facilities as well as for their support & encouragement to conduct this program.
