“Smart India Hackathon 2018" - Grand Finale

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, envisages a Digital India to bridge the digital divide in our country and further promote digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and put governance within everyone’s reach in India. To reiterate the efforts towards our PM’s vision, MHRD, AICTE, i4C, and Persistent Systems took an initiative to organize 2nd edition of Smart India Hackathon 2018. Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2018 – Software Edition was held on 30th & 31st March 2018.

In this regard, two student teams from School of Computing and Information Technology got selected for Smart India Hackathon 2018 Grand Finale – Software Edition, which was held in total 28 Nodal Centres across India.

Team NULL Pointers developed a smart assistant cum home automation manager called “Bella” based on the idea / solution provided for the selected problem statement during 36 hours Smart India Hackathon 2018.

About Bella :

Bella is a smart assistant cum home automation manager that reports to the user about his power usage statistics and also provides with suggestions, so as how to consume less electricity and not compromise on luxury. Bella uses a myriad of cutting-edge technologies to achieve its goal.

Shortlisting procedure:

There were around 60 teams at our Nodal center, Kurnool. We were evaluated in three stages. During each stage a group of 3-4 judges evaluated our proposal. The jury at each stage provided us with feedback and some possible improvements to the product. After all the evaluations, 10 teams were shortlisted and we were one of them.

End result:

We were one of the 10 teams to be shortlisted for the final presentation to a jury of about 25 judges. The 7 minutes long presentation was broken into two parts: A 4 minute presentation of our Project to the jury followed by 3 minutes for questionnaire.

Team SUPERNOVA developed an Android application called “VYRO” based on the idea / solution provided for the selected problem statement during 36 hours Smart India Hackathon 2018.

Brief Description on working of VYRO App:

For Patient:

1. Provides list of hospitals and list of doctors available in the particular city.

2. Gets an appointment with the concerned doctor via Email.

3. After the check-up, doctor’s e-prescription details will be stored in the App and also sent via SMS (In case for a patient from a village).

4. According to the e-prescription, medicines can be ordered in terms brand or generic category for better price by finding the nearby Pharmacies available from the current location using Google Maps.

For Doctor:

1. After doing the check-up, Mobile no. of a patient will be entered in the App and e-prescription details (includes Medicine Name & when to take) will be stored in the App (via from voice to text) using Google voice to text assistance.

2. Also, individual patient’s earlier prescription details will be recorded in the App for the future purpose.

For Pharmacy:

Receives the doctor’s e-prescription details from a particular patient through online or via SMS and deliver medicines to the patient by Cash-On-Delivery approach.

Technology Stack:

1. Android Studio – used for developing the App.

2. JAVA and XML – used for coding.

3. Firebase – used for data storing, updating and managing database.

4. Google Maps, voice to text assistance.
