Third National Conference on “Advances in Computing and Information Technology

School of Computing and Information technology organised a National Conference on “Advances in Computing and Information Technology” on 11th May 2018. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. L.M. Patnaik, INSA distinguished Professor, IISc and honourable chancellor Dr. P. Shyama Raju presided the inaugural function which was held in Seminar hall, 7th Floor, Swami Vivekananda block.

Dr. Mallikarjun Kodabagi welcomed the dignitaries, Staff and participants. Dr. Ashwin Kumar, General chair of the conference briefed about the conference. Dr S.S.Manvi Director, school of C&IT, introduced the chief guest Prof. L.M. Patnaik. Prof Patnaik addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of BigData, IoT, Artificial intelligence and Cyber security. Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Y. Kulkarni expressed that the publication of papers should become a habit of all academicians. Chancellor Dr. P. Shyama Raju gave the presidential remarks. Dr. Mallikarjuna Shastry delivered vote of thanks. Professor Ranjitha.U.N anchored the inaugural event.

Chief Guest, Prof. L M Patnaik delivered a key note speech on “Emerging Facets of Artificial intelligence and Social impact: An overview”. The speaker emphasized the applications like Face Recognition, Multi feature recognition, Visual Navigation, Cyber Security Systems, Cyber Physical Systems, Natural language Translation, Self-driving cars, Industry robots and software robots that make use of machine learning, neural networks and deep learning. He revealed the possibilities of future cyber wars with hackers tampering with sensitive information. His speech was well received and appreciated by the student community as well.

A total of 167 papers were received, out of which 93 papers were selected after plagiarism checking process and final review by experts.

The authors presented the papers in five parallel sessions under various domains:- Data Mining, Network and Cyber Security, Embedded System and IoT, Wireless Sensor Networks & Ad Hoc Networks and Image Processing. The eminent external and internal chairs chaired the sessions. Best paper presentation in each stream was awarded with certificate. The best papers selected are:

“Conversion of static Piece of paper into smart pieces of technology using RFID”, “ Advanced ATM Multilevel Authentication using finger print verification and OTP Validation”, ”Oculus- A smart wearable for visually impaired”, “ Better Health care using machine learning” , “Frame work for Data security from SQL injection in cloud Computing” and “w hole exom sequence analysis to predict functional biomarker for pancreatic cancer”.

All the students who presented and participated were widely appreciated and congratulated by the organizing and expert committee for their interest and initiative in research.
