The School of Legal Studies had Organized Seminar on LEGAL AID on 10/03/2018 between 10:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M at Basement Seminar Hall, Swami Vivekananda Block for II semester law students.

The resource person was DEEPA RAFEEQUE, a Corporate trainer & co-founder of VLegal Firm

The following are the key points

  • Access to justice for all
  • Entitlement to legal services
  • Legal service authorities
  • Legal Aid funds

The session was very interactive & students felt session was very useful and informative. The following are the outcome achieved with the legal talk.

  • The legal service authority will examine the eligibility for the applicant and prime facie case, if found eligible, it will provide a counsel, court fee and all incidental expenses.
  • To determine and arrive at compromise or settlement any matter pending before the court or within the jurisdiction of the court.
  • There is a fund constituted under the act to take care of all expenses for providing legal services.
  • These persons are entitled to avail the legal service
    • Victims of trafficking in human beings
    • Women or a child
    • A person with disability
    • An industrial workman, persons in custody i.e. mental asylum, Juvenile, etc.

We are very much thankful to our Honorable Chancellor Sir Dr. P. Shyama Raju for providing infrastructure to conduct such events. We also thank our Honorable Vice Chancellor Sir Dr. S.Y.Kulkarni, Registrar Sir Dr. M. Dhanamjay , Dr.N. Ramesh Sir Dean, Placement training & planning, our Director Sir Dr. M.L.
