Venue : Aryabhata Seminar Hall, C V Raman Block

Topic : Trends in Manufacture of Electronic Devices

The School of ECE had organized a technical talk "Trends in Manufacture of Electronic Devices" on Saturday, 30th June, 2018 between 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Aryabhata Seminar Hall for teaching staff. Mr. Praveen Varma Nadempalli, Principal Engineer, QORVO, Phoenix USA was the resource person.

Talk focused on the following key points:

  • Brief overview of the evolution of CMOS manufacturing processes used in LSI to the current ULSI applications.
  • Concept of Moore’s law.
  • CMOS Structure and cross section
  • Effects of device scaling
  • Explained on how to mitigate short channel effects
  • Concept of SOI- Silicon on insulator, FinFET.

Following are the outcomes achieved with this technical talk:

  • An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering (a)
  • An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability (c)
  • An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems (e)
