School of Computing and Information Technology organised a flagship event, “International Conference on Advances in Computing and Information Technology (IACIT-2019)” on 10th & 11th May 2019. Prof. Rajkumar Buyya, Director, Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (CLOUDS) Laboratory at the University of Melbourne, Australia, inaugurated the conference. Honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Y. Kulkarni presided over the inaugural function, which was held in Legal Studies Seminar Hall, Basement, Swami Vivekananda Block.

Dr. Sunilkumar S. Manvi, Director, School of Computing & Information Technology, welcomed the gathering and gave a brief overview of the conference. Dr. Ashwinkumar U. M., General chair, introduced the chief guest Prof. Rajkumar Buyya which was followed by his address. Respected Vice Chancellor, Dr. S.Y. Kulkarni gave the presidential remarks and finally, Dr. Mallikarjun Kodabagi, Professor, School of C & IT delivered vote of thanks. After the group photo session, Prof. Rajkumar Buyya delivered a keynote address on the topic “New Frontiers in Cloud and Edge/Fog Computing for Big Data & (IoT) Internet-of-Things Applications”. His address highlighted the importance of Big data, Cloud Computing, IoT and Cybers Security which was well received and appreciated by the audience and student community. On Day 2, there were two keynote addresses on state-of-the-art in the related areas, by Dr. L.M. Patnaik on “A Synthesising Overview of Artificial Intelligence” and followed by Dr. Ashish Ghosh on “Artificial Intelligence for Society”. A tutorial was also arranged on Data Science. A total of 327 papers were received, out of which 167 papers were selected after plagiarism checking process and final technical review by the expert committee. Total of 38 papers were selected for publishing in Scopus Indexed Journal - International Journal of Engineering and Advanced Technology and total of 129 papers were selected for publishing in UGC Indexed Journals, out of which 99 papers will be published in International Journal of Computer Science and Engineering and 30 papers in International Journal of Advanced Networking and Applications respectively.

The authors presented papers in five parallel sessions under various domains for two days. This includes Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Computing & Cloud Computing and security, Internet of Things and Wireless Sensor Networks, Digital Image processing, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and Embedded Systems with two chairs per session.

IACIT 2019 concluded with valedictory function in presence of Honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Y. Kulkarni, our beloved Director, Dr. Sunilkumar S. Manvi, Dr. Ashwinkumar U M, General Chair. Few authors shared their experience and was followed by presenting mementoes to session chairs. Finally, best papers selected from each domain were awarded with BEST PAPER AWARD.

All the students who presented papers and participated in IACIT-2019 were highly appreciated and congratulated by the organising and expert committee for their interest and initiative in carrying out research. The conference provided an open forum for Scientists, Researchers, Engineers and Students to exchange the latest innovative ideas in research advancements in the areas of next-generation computers, communication protocols and algorithms, High-Performance Computing, Data Science, Internet of Things, Software Engineering, IT Services and Applications.
