Report on Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp 4 conducted by UIIC

Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell of UIIC, REVA University successfully organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp-4 from 6th to 8th March 2019. The programme was organized in association with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII).

The camp was formally inaugurated on 6th March 2019 by Mr. R V Tyagarajan, Company Secretary and Mr. Nicku Mathew Abraham, Project officer, EDII by lighting the lamp. The participants were welcomed byDr. Kiran Kumari Patil, Director, UIIC, REVA University. Dr. Rajashekhar Biradar, Director, School of ECE gave the presidential talk and explained the significance of creating awareness about Entrepreneurship at educational institutes.

The main objective of this Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) is to create awareness among students of Engineering and Science courses about various facets of entrepreneurship as an alternative career option. The idea of organizing this workshop is to inculcate the fundamentals, key concepts of Entrepreneurship in the Science and Technology among students. The Three day camp concluded with a valedictory session and a humble vote of thanks.

The main attractions of the camp were as follows:

About 80 students from School of ECE and School of EEE have successfully participated in the camp and each participant is awarded a certificate. The camp was successfully coordinated by Mr. Praveen H.J, Assistant Manager, UIIC, Mr. Purushothama, BDE, UIIC, Prof. Ravishankar, School of ECE, Prof. Mahesh School of EEE under the leadership and direction of Dr. Kiran Kumari Patil, Director, UIIC. UIIC team and EDC members of School of ECE also contributed towards conducting the event successfully.

Day 1: 6th March 2019

Session 1 & Session 2:

Mr. R V Tyagarajan Company Secretary, addressed participants and gave brief introduction to Entrepreneurship concepts in his first session. He also spoke about his experience of working closely with startups. He also cited the examples of successful entrepreneurs. The students were exposed to points on developing the passion towards entrepreneurship and also gained insights on the skills they need to develop to become an effective entrepreneur.

Session 3:

Mr.Nicku Mathew, Project Officer, EDII addressed the participants and spoke about Social Entrepreneurship &made participants to work on Self-Rating Questionnaire. The session was highly interactive.

Session 4:

Prof. Saji Varghese, Christ University, addressed the students He shared details about introduction to idea generation. His session was filled with fun learning components. He shared examples of Innovative products developed by using waste materials and also explained how cost effective solutions can be developed if we understand the way to diagnose the problem. Participants were surprised to know that some of the innovative products are developed by illiterates and young students like them.

Day 2: 7th March 2019

The Second day of the camp was for Industry Visit. The Participants were taken for tour inside REVA University campus and they visited below places

Students were explained in detail how REVA University has taken innovative steps to address the problems through technology. The Industry visit was coordinated by Mr. Purushothama S., BDE, UIIC.

Day 3: 8th March 2019

Session 1

Ms. Sandhra Jose, Project Coordinator, EDII conducted the Brain Storming Session. The participants were divided into groups and made them to list out products and services offered by companies (Domain specific). The team with maximum number of products and services listed was declared winner for the activity conducted. The session made the participants to discuss among team members.

Session 2:

Ms.Nicku Mathew Project Officer EDII took session on Idea generation and conducted group activity. It had buddy sessions and peer learning activities to generate business ideas. Students presented their ideas as teams. Valuable feedback was given to each team to improve their business ideas.

Session 3:

Mr. Kishor Jagirdar Chairman & Managing Director addressed the students Creativity and innovation, design thinking and grassroots innovation. The session was filled with energy filled activities to make participants understand the importance of creativity and innovation.

Session 4:

Feedback was collected from students about the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp followed by Valedictory of the camp. Dr. Rajashekhar Mandi, Director, School of EEE, REVA University gave the valedictory address to the particiapnts. The EAC concluded with distribution of Certificates to the participants followed by group photo session.
