Workshop on Pre Cast and Steel Structures in Construction

The workshop on Pre-Cast and Steel Structures in Construction was conducted by Association of civil Engineers (ACE) club, REVA University in association with Indian concrete Institute -student chapter. Three eminent speakers have given good knowledge and information on steel Structures, precast and Pre-stressed elements in construction industry.

The Programme was commencedwith invocation song followed by welcoming the dignitaries by Prof. Sunil Kumar Tengli.

Dr.Y.Ramalinga Reddy, Director, School of Civil Engineering, addressed the gathering, briefed the objective and importance of Technical workshops to upgrade the Knowledge and Skills. With a Brief Introduction of Speaker, the First technical talk was on“Pre-cast Construction in Metro” by Colonel Vinod M Sasalatti (Retd.) Dy Chief Engineer BMRCL. It was an innovative talk explained the use of Pre-cast structural elements such as T-beams, Box girders and retaining walls in Namma Metro constructions,manufacture process of Pre-cast Elements and Materials used and stages of constructions, Precautionary measures adopted during construction and also highlighted importance of curing the structures

After the tea break the second session was commenced with the brief introduction of Speaker Dr. B.R Niranjan on “Pre-cast and Pre-fabricated Elements". It was an innovative talk covering the broad area of pre-cast elements and Pre-fabricated Elements Constructions from basic to utilization and progressive for industry and also the present advancement in the Tools used for Construction.

The Third session was commenced with the brief introduction of second Speaker Dr Aravind H Bhasyam on “Steel Structures in Construction”.It was an innovative talk covering the broad area of Steel structures and gave examples of PETRONAS twin tower construction and 101 High rise steel structure in Taipei. Where in these projects he was involved during design and construction

Our students were highly motivated after the speech of the above speakers.
