School of Electronics and Communication Engineering- Director's Message

The School of Electronics and Communication Engineering offers B Tech, M. Tech. and Research programs. The B. Tech. program in Electronics and Communication Engineering (B. Tech (ECE)) is designed to give greater emphasis on core Electronics and Communication Engineering with flexibility to explore in any one of the four areas like circuits and devices, signal processing, communication engineering and programming. The program is designed to expose students to various subjects having applications in Microelectronics and VLSI design, smart system design, wired and wireless communication technologies, robotics and automation, IoT, information processing, security systems, control engineering, cloud based applications, information technology and electronics related industries through outcome based teaching and learning process. The present world sees the rapid growth in telecommunication systems, consumer electronics and computer-based designs keeping Electronics, Microelectronics and embedded industries.

B. Tech in Electronics and Computer Engineering (B. Tech (ECM)) program is designed to provide quality education imparting skills on both Electronics hardware, software and IT development. Not only the students of computer engineering deals with the design of computers and computer systems along with fundamental aspects of electronics hardware concepts, but they also learn to design new hardware and software. Apart from Electronics fundamentals, B. Tech. ECM graduate gets an exposure to build smart systems that involve sensors, processors, actuators, communication networks, and IOT, Data Science, Data Analytics, Artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning. Developed in response to the needs of industries, this program will render advanced level knowledge and skills in the design of complex software enabled electronic and microelectronic hardware systems. To meet this demand, the curriculum has been specifically designed in consultation with technocrats from various industries.

The difference between B. Tech CSE and B. Tech ECM is that B Tech ECM graduate will study the fundamentals of Electronics hardware design rather only focusing on programming and IT aspects. In the future, graduates having this type of co-design skill sets are required in a huge number of industries ranging from defense applications, aeronautical, automobile, healthcare, agriculture applications, and scientific community.

In both the UG programs, emphasis is also given on activities such as mini projects, seminars, industry exposure, cultural activities and social outreach activities are in place to cater to the all-round development of students.

M. Tech. programs in VLSI and Embedded Systems, Digital Communication and Networking focus on advanced topics in the respective areas blended with internships, projects and certification programs that aid to build young engineers suitable for industry requirements, academics and research. The research program offered in the school caters to the needs of many people to pursue research work for their doctoral degree in various domains of Electronics, Communication, Computers and other inter-disciplinary areas.

The school has experienced and well qualified faculty members having good number of publications. Well established state- of- the- art laboratories and center of excellences meet not only the basic experimentation but also enables to carry out research in various domains. Several collaborations and extension activities with industry and academia make the school a meaningful knowledge enhancement center.
