Skill Development Center (SDC)

SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Organised By: School of Electronics & Communication Engineering

Held on : 29th October – 1st November

About The Event:

School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, REVA University aims for creating and nurturing emerging industry oriented new technology skills among student fraternity. In association to this School had organized four day Industry oriented skill development and certification programs from 29th October to 1st November 2018. These programs were scheduled for third year students of school of Electronics and Communication Engineering. To inculcate the skill set which is required for the electronic industry the school of ECE conducted the certification course and skill development course for 5th semester students. Students were given a choice to choose courses of their interest. The students were allowed choose one out of four courses namely Python Programming, Programming using Raspberry Pi, Industrial Automation using PLC and SCADA, Ethical Hacking. Out of the four courses,

I. Python Programming, Programming Using Raspberry Pi and Ethical Hacking fall under certification courses.

II. Under skill development, Industrial Automation using PLC and SCADA is considered.

Around 300 students took active participation in the event. These certification programs and Skill Development programs are trained by industry experts as per the current need of the industry.

First Sem SDC Program

Report of the Event:

School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, REVA University aims for creating and nurturing emerging industry oriented new technology skills among student fraternity. To accomplish the above skill enhancement, School had organized four day Industry oriented skill development and certification programs from 24th October to 27th October. These programs were scheduled for 1st year students of school of Electronics and Communication Engineering. To inculcate the skill set which is required for the electronic industry the school of ECE conducted the certification course and skill development course for 1st semester students. Students were given a choice to choose courses of their interest. The students were allowed choose one out of five courses namely Fundamental of Linux OS, Fundamentals of Web Programming, Fundamental of Arduino Programming, Fundamental of PCB Designing, Fundamental of Mobile Troubleshooting Technique. Out of the five courses,
I. Fundamental of Linux OS, Fundamentals of Web Programming, Fundamental of Arduino Programming fall under certification courses.
II. Under skill development, Fundamental of PCB Designing, Fundamental of Mobile Troubleshooting Technique are considered.

On an around 370 students were attended the different workshops, where Students were asked to choose particular course/program of their interest.

All the students expressed their view that they are very much happy and satisfied with the Skill Development programs conducted and suggested to have few more of these kind of Programs in future.

These type of event encourages and supports students to nurture and enhance their potential in lieu with their academic and industrial pursuit.

Motivational talk titled Becoming A Person of Influence

Description of the event:

ISRO has initiated a new project called Empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions Spatially (EPRIS) with the goal to empower PRIs with the space-based inputs towards resource-based and integrated spatial developmental planning of rural areas in a user-friendly enabling environment. ISRO has granted permission for 50 villages in Mandya Taluk to be taken up by School of ECE, REVA University. In this direction, MOU is signed between NRSC,ISRO and School of ECE,RU on 5th May, 2017.

Report of the Event:

It is immense pleasure to share that Skill Development Center, School of ECE had organized a Motivational talk on “Becoming A Person of Influence!!!” on 5th December 2017. On an around 80 Students and faculties from various department attended the talk. The motivational talk was replete with high energy and contagious enthusiasm. Mr. Ray Vincent’s eloquent delivery style was par excellence. He was able to hold the attention of a large gathering with his guru’s (Dr. John C. Maxwell) simple mesmerizing thoughts. His speech focused on full potential within oneself as nothing is beyond reach in case we are to seize ourselves with conviction and determination.

The talk left an indelible mark in the minds of all the participants. His words still resonate in our minds and motivate us towards purposeful living rather than existing. We are very much thankful to our Honorable Chancellor Sir, Dr. P. Shyama Raju for providing infrastructure to conduct such events, to Vice-Chancellor Sir, Dr. S.Y. Kulkarni and to Registrar Sir Dr. M. Dhanamjaya for motivating to conduct the program, to our beloved Director Sir, Dr.R.C. Biradar for his support and encouragement.

Industrial Visit to Master Control Facility(MCF)

Held On :08/11/2017

Report of the Event:

The School of ECE had arranged an industrial visit to Master Control Facilty,ISRO,Hassan dated on 08/11/2017, for the students of 3rd year (5th Sem E Section) consisting of 43 students. These students were accompanied by Prof. Ravi Shankar D. The visit commenced at 1.45 pm in the afternoon, where series of formalities were undertaken by the military officials from the entrance gate to till the venue allotted.

Master Control Facility (MCF) at Hassan in Karnataka controls all the Geostationary / Geosynchronous satellites of ISRO, namely, INSAT, GSAT, Kalpana and IRNSS series of satellites. MCF is responsible for Orbit Raising of satellites, In-orbit payload testing, and On-orbit operations all through the life of these satellites. MCF activities include round-the-clock Tracking, Telemetry & Commanding (TT&C) operations, and special operations like Eclipse management, Station-keeping manoeuvres and recovery actions in case of contingencies. MCF interacts with User Agencies for effective utilisation of the satellite payloads and to minimise the service disturbances during special operations.

Mr. Manjunath, Senior Scientist, MCF, ISRO, welcomed the gathering and guided the students with initial demo videos of basic need of satellite, its invention, different kinds with the evolutionary background, satellite preparation, rocket launch and explained the models of Earth Stations and Telemetry Tracking,Commanding and Monitoring.(TTC&M).

Mr. Manjunath answered all the queries that students had related to the things they had observed at MCF, ISRO. Students were then encouraged to take up the entrance exam and avail various positions at MCF, ISRO with the best ever possible benefits they could imagine. He insisted students to become Entrepreneurs and provide job opportunities to others. He advised students to dream big and achieve the best possible of it. He also appreciated the initiative taken up by REVA University for introducing such visits for the young minds and nurturing their careers. Hence, the industrial visit to MCF, ISRO enriched knowledge to both students and faculty in knowing more about Metereological and Communication Satellites and Its Launching. On behalf of our School of ECE we would like to thank our Honorable Chancellor Dr. Shyama Raju, Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Y. Kulkarni, Registrar Dr. M. Dhanamjaya for their continuous support and Our beloved dynamic Director School of ECE Dr. Rajashekhar C. Biradar for his encouragement and support.

Workshop On Python Programming

Description of the event:

We are pleased to inform that Skill development Center, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering is organizing 4 days Workshop on "Python Programming". Around 39 Students have registered for the event.

Resource Person for the workshop is Smt. Kusuma. She has around 14 years of Industrial Experience. She delivered the lecture with so enthusiasm and Students were so happy as they were engaged in hands-on session for all 4 days.

We are very much thankful to our Honorable Chancellor Sir, Dr. P. Shyama Raju for providing infrastructure to conduct such events, to Vice-Chancellor Sir, Dr. S.Y. About The Event:

One of the famous adages says “Ideas come only to those who can make it happen”. School of ECE conducted Best Idea Competition to promote learning as well as foster innovation and invention by transforming ideas /dreams into real action and product. This event provided our student a platform to share their ideas thereby, encouraging and supporting them to nurture and enhance their potential in lieu with their academic and industrial pursuit.
