Dr. Sanjay R. Chitnis

Dr. Sanjay R. Chitnis is a distinguished academic and industry professional with a career spanning several decades, committed to advancing engineering education for societal benefit. Currently, he serves as the Pro Vice Chancellor ( Strategic Initiatives, Innovation, and Industry) at REVA University.

Dr. Chitnis' academic credentials include a BE from Savitribai Phule Pune University, an M.Tech from IIT Kanpur, and a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

In his extensive 22-year tenure in the IT industry, Dr. Chitnis has held significant leadership roles. At Motorola, he managed a project that contributed to the messaging subsystem for IRIDIUM, a satellite-based communication network. He also established best practices in software engineering, Six Sigma, and project management at Motorola India and its global centres. As an SEI-certified CMMI SCAMPI B Lead Assessor and Trainer at Motorola University, he specialised in Six Sigma for product development. Later, at LG, he led the platform engineering team in India for LG smart devices, collaborating with international teams across 14 countries.

Dr. Chitnis transitioned to academia in 2014 as the Principal of CMR Institute of Technology, Bangalore. He has also held positions as Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Dayananda Sagar University, Chairman of the Department of CSE, Dean of Computer Science at REVA University, and the founding Dean of the School of Computer Science at RV University, Bangalore. In these roles, he has introduced numerous initiatives to make education experiential, interdisciplinary, and holistic, ensuring students are equipped with essential life skills for the future.

As a Senior IEEE Member, Dr. Chitnis is actively involved in various professional activities. He has a passion for travel, philosophy, cooking, and gardening. Additionally, he enjoys mentoring students in innovation and startups.
