Professor Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, is a highly esteemed scholar, renowned educator, accomplished researcher, and adept administrator. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the field of management education, holding pivotal positions at premier management institutes and in the corporate sector throughout his illustrious career. Formerly, Dr. Metri served as the Director of IIM Tiruchirappalli and made significant contributions as a Dean at institutions like L&T Institute of Project Management Vadodara, IMI New Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, and in leading research programs at BITS Pilani. Presently, he is a member of the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU), and he plays a crucial role in mentoring Institutes of Eminence (IoE) and serves as the Chairman of various prominent councils including the All India Board of Management Studies, AICTE, New Delhi; Management and Systems Division Council (MSDC); Human Resources Management and Innovation Sectional Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi, as well as the AIMA Board of Studies, New Delhi. Dr. Metri's influence extends beyond traditional academic circles, he has provided training to over 100 Vice Chancellors from Central, State, and deemed Universities across the country. Additionally, he has imparted his expertise to more than 1000 Directors, Deans, Principals, and Heads of Departments at leading Engineering Institutes, including NITs, under the World Bank-assisted project of MHRD-TEQIP aimed at enhancing the quality of technical education in the country. Notably, Dr. Metri achieved the distinction of being the first Indian elected as the Vice President of the Asia Pacific Division of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI). Furthermore, he stands as the sole serving IIM Director to have received the prestigious AIMA-Kewal Nohria Award for Academic Leadership in Management Education in India. His outstanding contributions have earned him several other accolades, including the Distinguished Services Award by the Asia Pacific Decision Sciences Institute, the Top Director Award by CSR, the Prerana Purshkar-Distinguished Alumnus Award, and the "Top Rankers Excellence Award for Outstanding Academic Leadership" bestowed by the Top Rankers Management Club, New Delhi.
